Verbs are also said to be either active or passive in voice. Here the subject carries out the action in the verb.
- In the passive voice, the subject of the sentence does not carry out the action.
- Subject is acted upon by some other agent or by something unnamed.
Eg: Ravana was killed by Ram.
Here, the action is that of killing. But the subject of the sentence, Ravana, is not the person who is carrying out the action. But the verb is acted upon him by some other entity, here Ram.
